Deichmann-Shoes UK Ltd agree lease for a new build 162,500 sq ft facility at Corby
Europe’s largest footwear retailer, Deichmann has agreed a lease for a purpose built 162,500 sqft warehouse with ancillary offices with site owners and developers, Clowes Developments. The commercial lease agreement marks significant inward investment for the area as the retailer places their brand new UK distribution facility in Corby. The retailer will retain their head office in neighbouring Market Harborough positioning themselves strategically to benefit from excellent location and direct access to major UK transport networks. James Richards Development Director at Clowes Developments commented, “Securing another major occupier for the scheme in Corby is a great result. The scope of the building and its high-spec delivery will, without doubt, add considerable value to the ongoing regeneration aspirations for this town. Bringing household names such as Deichmann and BakeAway to Centrix Park are lines in the sand marking the bright new future for the former brownfield site.” Chris Holden, Director at Deichmann commented, “We are continuing to expand our presence in the UK both online and opening new High Street stores. This development will enhance that expansion and enable us to improve service levels across the business. We believe Corby is a great location for our UK warehouse, being close to the centre of our store network and providing a skilled workforce for logistics operations”. Budworth Hardcastle acted for Deichmann. Philip Arnold undertook an initial search of all deliverable sites in the locality. Once the Centrix Corby site became the preferred option, Nick Galloway Director within the firm’s building consultancy division concluded negotiations on the general specification of the new build which included a ‘Very Good’ bream rating. Philip Arnold then concluded the lease negotiations on behalf of the occupier.
